1. I installed a xpsp3 in compatible mode first.
2. Install the driver for intel chipset (“Chipset” directory in the built-in driver directory in s10-3)
So that the Intel(R) NM10 Express Chipset (or something like that, I couldn’t remember) will show up in the IDE A TA/ATAPI controller category in Device Manger. (reboot needed)
3. Open a cmd. Go to the “AHCI” directory in the built-in driver directory in s10-3
Run setup.exe using the command
setup.exe -A -P c:\temp
The drivers will be extracted into the c:\temp directory. (You can change it if you want)
4. Go back to Device Manager and right click on the Intel(R) NM10 Express Chipset
Don’t go to windows update to get the driver.
Select “install from a list or a specific location”
Select “Don’t search. I will …”
Click on “Have Disk”, Browse.
Locate the driver in c:\temp\winall\Driver and then select iaAHCI
There’s only one driver. Choose it.
5. Reboot your s10-3. Go into the BIOS and change to AHCI mode.
Then it should be able to boot into windows.
* step 2 and 3 are interchangeable.
It seems that it works, but I’m not sure if there is any difference between “install xpsp3 with AHCI natively” or this approach.
